ATHE Level 4 Extended Diploma in Management for Travel and Tourism (QCF)

The ATHE Level 4 Extended Diploma in Management for Travel and Tourism is a 120 credit qualification. Learners must complete four mandatory units which amounts to 60 credits. Further 60 credits from the optional units. At least 30 credits must come from Group 1. The remaining 30 may come from Group 1 or Group 2. 

MANDATORY UNITS
UNIT 01- THE TRAVEL AND TOURISM SECTOR

This unit aims to develop understanding of the development and structure of the travel and tourism sector and how it is affected by external agencies and factors. An understanding of the impacts of tourism will also be developed.

UNIT 02 - APPLYING PROMOTIONAL TECHNIQUES

To develop understanding of promotion in business and to practice evaluation of existing campaigns and development of new ones.

UNIT 03 - COMMUNICATION SKILLS

This unit aims to develop understanding of the development and structure of the travel and tourism sector and how it is affected by external agencies and factors. An understanding of the impacts of tourism will also be developed.

UNIT 04 - PEOPLE IN ORGANISATIONS

This unit aims to develop knowledge of those aspects of organisations that concern and support people. This includes communication practices, teamwork, remote working and other organisational structures. Using this knowledge learners will be able to review the impact of workplace practices on people.

ATHE Level 5 Extended Diploma in Management (QCF)

The ATHE Level 5 Extended Diploma in Management is a 120 credit qualification. Learners must complete five mandatory units and three or four optional units.

 
MANDATORY UNITS
UNIT 01 - MANAGING COMMUNICATION

This unit aims to develop knowledge and understanding of how communication takes place within organisations, the potential pitfalls and the benefits of good practice.

UNIT 02 - BUSINESS ORGANISATIONS IN A GLOBAL CONTEXT

This unit aims to develop learners understanding of the issues organisations face operating within a global context. This understanding will allow learners to review the issues currently impacting on businesses.

UNIT 03 - PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

In this unit learners develop the knowledge and understanding of what motivates individuals and teams and use this to review people management strategies used in organisations. Learners will gain an understanding of leadership theories, motivational theories, the impact of structure and culture as well as other tools that can be used to empower people in the workplace.

UNIT - 04 FINANCE FOR MANAGERS

To introduce learners to practical accounting and financial techniques that are useful to managers in business organisations.

UNIT 05 - RESEARCH PROJECT

To formulate a research specification on a chosen topic, implement the research project, evaluate and present the research findings.

OPTIONAL UNITS

Learners must complete a further three of four units from the list below to achieve a minimum of 120 credits for the Diploma.

The ATHE Level 5 Extended Diploma in Management for Travel and Tourism is a 120 credit qualification. Learners must achieve the 5 mandatory units which amount to 75 credits. At least 30 credits must come from Group 1. The remaining 15 credits may come from either Group 1 or Group 2.

ATHE Level 6 Diploma in Management (QCF)

The ATHE Level 6 Diploma in Management is a 120 credit qualification. Learners must complete the six mandatory units plus a further three or four optional units.

 
MANDATORY UNITS
UNIT 01 - LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

The aim of this unit is to enable the learner to understand theories of leadership and management and how to use leadership and management skills to improve motivation and performance. The learner will also understand the development and effectiveness of teams.

UNIT 02 - RESEARCH PROJECT

This unit aims to develop the skills required to produce a research question an carry out independant research using appropriate research techniques. The unit also aims to enable the learner to analyse research findings, evaluate research methodology used and prsent findings.

UNIT 03 - HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

To develop skills and knowledge in the field of human resource management strategy. To look at contemporary issues which affect human resource strategy within organisations.

UNIT 04 - STRATEGIC MARKETING

This unit enables the learner to understand how corporate strategy informs marketing strategy. It also enables the learner to understand how to carry out strategic market analysis and how to implement a marketing strategy. 

UNIT 05 - PERSONAL LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT

This unit aims to enable the learner to develop own personal leadership and management skills to support the achievement of own and organisational objectives.

UNIT 06 - FINANCIAL DECISION MAKING FOR MANAGERS

The aim of this unit is to develop the skills required for analysing financial information and making business decisions based on published financial information. Where appropriate, information about business structures and format of published financial statements can be taught in either a national or international context.

The ATHE Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management is a 120 credit qualification. Learners must complete the five mandatory units totalling 85 credits plus a further three or four units from the list of optional units to achieve a minimum of 120 credits.

To explore the strategic responses of organisations to the rapidly changing global business environment. To understand the strategies and processes used to manage international businesses in differing geographical and cultural situations. To understand the importance of managing within a framework of corporate social responsibility.

UNIT 03 - STRATEGIC RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

To explore the resources for managing resources to achieve the business objectives of organisations. To understand the roles and strategies used in acquiring, managing and developing human, physical and technological resources. To understand the importance of marketing in achieving business aims and objectives and the roles, strategies and processes used to manage the marketing function.

UNIT 04 - FINANCE FOR STRATEGIC MANAGERS

To develop financial skills required to understand and analyse financial information and to manage finance at a strategic level within a business. To understand the different business structures and financial reporting requirements.

UNIT 05 - RESEARCH FOR SENIOR MANAGERS

To develop the skills required to carry out strategic level research on a particular issue and analyse and report the results of the research.
