Level 5 Diploma in Hospitality Management (QCF)

This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the managerial, decision making and leadership aspects of the hospitality industry. It has been effectively designed to develop senior managerial level independant research and study skills. It is therefore an excellent preparation for workplace entry or as a springboard into the final year of a bachelors degree. 

 

This qualification is a 175 credit qualification. It includes seven mandatory units. 

 
MANDATORY UNITS 
LEVEL 4 - OPERATIONAL FINANCE IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

This unit aims to cover the understanding of the concepts of financial management and accounting within a hospitality or tourism business; controlling the finances and managing the cash flow and managing the profitability of a department within a hospitality or tourism business.

LEVEL 5 - HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

This unit aims to cover the understanding of the principles of human resource management in the tourism and hospitality industry; leading teams nd developing human resource policies.

LEVEL 5 - STRATEGIC MARKETING IN THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY 

This unit aims to cover the contribution to the development of marketing and sales strategies in the tourism and hospitality industry; optimising marketing communication, building strategic partnerships, new product development and understanding the purpose and components of an organisational business plan.

LEVEL 5 - CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT IN THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY  

This unit aims to cover the development of customer service strategy in the tourism and hospitality industry; managing customer relationships (CRM) and evaluating customer service.

LEVEL 5 - CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY  

This unit aims to cover the understanding of how to identify emerging issues in the tourism and hospitality industry and examining their impact.

LEVEL 5 - FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGEMENT 

This unit aims to cover the development of food and beverage operations, understanding the management of food and beverage operations and evaluating their effectiveness. 

LEVEL 5 - FACILITIES MANAGEMENT IN THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY 

This unit aims to cover the evaluation of the role of a facilities manager in a tourism or hospitality organisation; ensuring the facilities of a hospitality or tourism organisation meets health, safety and environmental requirements and maintaining and developing the facilities of a hospitality or tourism organisation premises.

Level 5 Diploma in Tourism Management (QCF)

This unit aims to cover the understanding of the global market for tour operations; compiling and marketing an international tour / package holiday and understanding the international legal framework within tour operations. 

LEVEL 5 - SUSTAINABLE TOURISM AND DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT 

This unit aims to cover an understanding of the scope and management of sustainable tourism and its environment and destination development. 

Level 6 Pro-Graduate Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management (QCF)

This course has been expressly designed to provide an equivalent learning to that of a British university bachelors degree programme in hospitality and tourism. In fact, graduates of this programme are able to convert their award into a recognised British university bachelors degree from Binary University or BPP University College, simply by completing an additional dissertation. This qualification covers all the key management skills required for a management career in this sector.

 

This qualification is a 140 credit qualification. Students must complete two mandatory units and two of the optional units to achieve this qualification.

This unit aims to cover the impact and opportunities of cultural and urban tourism and nature and eco-tourism.

LEVEL 6 - THE STRATEGIC IMPACT OF THE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT  

This unit aims to cover the macro environment, globalisation, the economy, responding to change and competitive advantage.

Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management (QCF)

This course provides an effective route for graduates in other fields who wish to make a career change into the growing hospitality and tourism sectors. Given the broad and highly varied nature of the hospitality and tourism industry, candidates will be required to demonstrate skills of a higher level and qualities specified in the Level 7 outcomes with a non-homogeneous vocational context. This qualification will be invaluable for excellent career progression in the hospitality industry.

 

This qualification is a 120 credit qualification. Students must complete three mandatory units and one of the optional units to achieve this qualification.

This unit aims to enable students to develop their understanding of marketing strategies and public relations tactics in the hospitality and tourism industry.

LEVEL 7 - MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP ACROSS CULTURES 

This unit aims to develop a critical understanding of the range of issues associated with management and leadership across cultures.

LEVEL 7 - HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM STRATEGIC PLANNING  

This unit aims to enable students to develop skills in strategic analysis and strategic planning. The module also considers risk evaluation and management, as well as business ethics.
